Summer of hairy legs.

Jul. 8th, 2009 | 07:03 am
location: Vienna
music: Thriller

Okay under normal circumstances I wax my legs when things get out of hand. Oh, thats 'cause i hate shaving. Now I'm not a really hairy person. Actually I've met only one person my age who had less hair on the arms than me (he was a dude!). Anyway I decided to not touch my legs for the duration of the eurotrip. I have to admit that when I first heard that we're meeting up with Justine and Jen I felt a little anxiety about my hairiness. Now that we've met up with them, I suddenly feel the confidence to continue growing my leg hair! There isn't that much hair, but it's getting longer. Recently I've discovered a major disadvantage to having hairy legs. I am so used to having nothing on my legs that when a bug is on my leg, I can feel it straight away and shoo it off. With these hairy legs, the wind blows, and it feels like I've got bugs on my legs! It's not comfortable at all. With that I conclude that people with really hairy legs must have dulled senses in their legs to small objects such as bugs.

(haha, my lj= a whole lotta nothing)

Btw, we're waiting around our hostel until we have to get on a night train to Venice.

From the other side of the world...

Hello from Amsterdam! We have 6.5 hours more to kill before our night train to Berlin. But this library is all decked out and I can't wait to use their "multimedia" macs downstairs to watch CNTM or Mr. Brain. I also can't wait to visit Albert Heijn... my new love... *swoon*

Anyway, hungry. Melissa's love for zalm sandwiches is making ME crave a zalm sandwich. Jebus~

A new purchase!

music: passion pit (that's all i have on my ipod right now)

I almost never buy things on the spot. If i do, it has to be love-at-first-sight, and it has to be at a reasonable price. Reasonable can vary a great deal too! Anyway, after I got my replacement iPod (audio jack died, within warranty luckily), I went over to h&m to see if there's still any remnants of the Matthew Williamson for H&M collection. I'm not really familiar with his work(OH, he designed for PUCCI... that makes sense now), but there's definitely been a lot of buzz over this line. Of course, any designer collab with h&m is big news in my books. Anyhoo, when i went in, there wasn't much there. My eyes were drawn to the one piece swimsuits right away. After looking at the shockingly low price tag, and then examining the shockingly high price tag of the tote bag in the same collection, I decided to get it. Didn't even try it on until I got home. Looks great. Good day.

For the purpose of making myself feel better...

May. 19th, 2009 | 08:30 pm

I decided to Google why high-fat yogurt could be better than low-fat yogurt. And bingo, I found an article right away:

"...in one study, a group of women were given a mid-morning yogurt snack and then later served lunch and dinner. There were two choices of yogurt. One was regular full-fat and the other was low-fat. Each was labeled, but there was no mention of total calorie content. Each, however, contained the same number of calories. The only difference was the fat content. Participants were allowed to choose whichever one they wanted. When the women were later served lunch those who had the high-fat yogurt ate less than those who ate the low-fat variety. The extra fat in the yogurt snack satisfied their hunger longer and encouraged them to eat less at lunch."

And no, i don't need to research further now that i've found my answer.

Preparing for an epic journey.

Mommy bought me a skort from Winners today. There was this really stylish Kangol Mens Fedora hat that almost seems like a straw hat, but it was actually made of polyester. It was difficult. It looked so good for me, but that's just not the look i'm going for on this journey. Style changes all the time, but useful hats are always useful. I hope I get some birthday money this year... if i do, i'll get something like this.

Melissa and I are making so much progress. Very exciting stuff...

music: what music? i don't listen to music.

The luxuries of living at home has taken a toll on me. Gawd, i am so lazy and do nothing but eat and sleep and spend money going out. I'm not imagining things: I no longer have my malnourished residence body. I simply cannot escape my mother from offering me delicious homecooked meals. To further the pain, Mother's Day and Mother's Birthday has raped my bank account (an exaggeration, but when did love start to cost so much?). In other news: I opened a Scotiabank Powerchequing account, canceled my RBC student visa and switched to the Starbucks Duetto, loved Star Trek, and LOVED the season finale of Fringe. Hey, it's not everyday that I watch a non-teendrama or non-comedy television show. And Fringe just fulfills me like no other.

Anyway, better shape up. *cue Olivia Newton John*

Need to channel my inner Pooh...

Movie Intermission LJpost

May. 10th, 2009 | 05:35 pm

I'm watching Liam Neeson in Taken right now, and it's scaring the crap out of me.

The premise is that his daughter goes off to Paris with a friend where they are kidnapped and sold off to sex slavery. And now Liam is kicking ass through the nasty world of sex slavery in the high and low societies of Paris in search of his daughter...

Oh gawd......

I need Liam Neeson to protect me and mel on our trip :(

Iman> Heidi

May. 4th, 2009 | 10:22 pm
mood: blah blah
music: bat for lashes "daniel"

After marathoning the latest season of Project Runway Canada and Season 4 of Project Runway (US - the one where Christian "fierce" Siriano wins), I conclude that Heidi Klum is boring, and Iman is a superior host and fashion icon.

I guess Heidi was never really a fashion model... but still, she chooses the most blah outfits for the show. For fashion week, she wore JEANS! Can you believe that? Iman would wear something crazy every time she comes out, and it was always really daring. Meh, I guess the US show had more famous celebrity judges though.

Anyway, I also think the Canadian designers are more innovative. The winner for the recent season made the most beautiful clothes, while even the runner up made some really funky pieces. Season 4 of the US series was like all black. Fall/Winter doesn't have to be all black, man. Yall should check out the Canadian show.

Seriously, the smallest scene near the end made me cry. So sweet. Ahhh....

Btw, how funny it is that they would pair Jennifer Aniston with Ben Affleck. He needs more Jennifers in his life. haha....

And I think that Jennifer Connelly is one of the most beautiful actresses around right now.

Dear Neighbour,

I can care less that you are not pleased at hearing the thumpin' bass off my speakers. It is 11:30, and not quiet hours. And yes, this is pay back for screaming and laughing with your girlfriend last night at 2am.

Go to hell.

Affordable high fashions.

mood: blank blank

I'm not sure what to google, but surely there are sites out there that notify people about when high fashion labels do collaborations with affordable chains?

ie. Comme des Garcons x H&M
Anya Hindmarch x Target
Alexander McQueen x Target
I Heart Ronson x JC Penny

I can just imagine it:
"wow, what are you wearing?"
"oh, i'm wearing Alexander McQueen"

HMM. I really like the Stella McCartney x Adidas stuff... one day one day...

Quick Business Plan: Executive Summary.

mood: cheerful cheerful
music: quiet village

(Inspired by Terminator 1)

CockFinder.com
Cockfinder.com looks through the history of cinema for memorable moments when male frontal nudity is exposed to the audience. We assume there is a customer pain here because much of the entertainment sector is currently focused on female nudity, and there is just a category need for... cock. This will be a new generation of social networking as users can upload clips of their own. Clips will have to be approved by the web manager before being put on the website.

Mission Statement
To make available video clips of male frontal nudity.

Management
CockFinder.com will be run by a Sauder School of Business grad and three Science students majoring in Physics and Math. Our advisory board includes a Management of Technology major and a Computer Science major.

The Market and Our Customer
After extensive research, our first target market will be young heterosexual females between the ages of 18-30. Subsequent target markets include young homosexual males, curious individuals about male frontal nudity, and people who pretend to be sexually aversed.

Marketing and Sales
We anticipate a lot of traffic to our website. However, prior to launch, we will need to raise awareness that the website is about to launch. This will include online banner ads on porn sites and video sites. To sustain traffic to our website, we will make our website highly visible by making sure that high traffic porno blogs will write about CockFinder.com. A viral video can be made out of a montage of clips to raise awareness.

Competition
The management team is currently unwilling to look into who CockFinder's direct competitors are. Upon googling "CockFinder," it appears that a website called TheCockFinder.com exists. However this is a site about gay porn. Indirect competitors include porn sites, sites that show video clips with similarly sexual content, and actual movies.

Operations
The website will be maintained and updated by the web manager. The management can have a say in when they want to contribute. Advertisers will be handled by a VP of Advertising.

Financial Projections and Plans
Initial costs include buying the website domain and placing banner ads and Google Adwords in various locations on the interweb.

This is the second time I've found something cool that David Byrne did. Am I too late to jump on the Talking Heads bandwagon? My goals of getting to know Joy Division never came true... but who knows, right?

From economist.com:
And earlier this month China said it would increase military spending by 14.9% to some $70 billion this year, continuing double-digit growth that began in the 1990s. But this pales in comparison with America's mighty defence budget. According to the latest comparable figures from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, America accounted for 45% of the world's military spending—$1.2 trillion in 2007—more than the next 14 biggest countries combined.

While I've been marathoning Skins...

Mar. 17th, 2009 | 03:02 pm
mood: annoyed annoyed

So recently i've been marathoning UK teen drama Skins for the past few days here. This show is everything that gossip girl is not. It kills me that gossip girl is going downhill from what it used to be. Skins gives me so much more. Characters with personalities. They're so screwed up, and i love it! There's also lots of sex and drugs. Always a plus. Not to mention the boy from About a Boy is in it!

Anyway, group projects have been on hiatus for some time. And now i have a shitload of stuff to do. For the sake of writing out what i need to do, and bragging about how shitty this all is:

competitive analysis
Product, Pricing, Promotion, Distribution
pictures of picture frames
exec summary
walnut case
editing of media plan
writing about Garbage
sexual dysfunction and std website/picture hunting
(you know isn't it funny how dysfunction is spelt with a y?)

Oh Skins. i need you. i want you. oh baby oh baby~
